Dawn Avalon (1973) grew up in Groningen, where she, by the way, still lives. The first 3 years of her life Dawn lived on a ship, the Capri. Since she was eight she started to write short stories. Later, in her teens, these became short abstracts for books to write in the future. After her education, from 1992 til 1994 she took a short study concerning the Dutch Language and took part at a Creative Writing program. From 1988 til 1996 she now and again worked at her book ‘Een Vergeten Verleden’ (A Forgotten Past), which then was put away. In 1997 she got a job at a Communications Firm and she barely wrote anymore. The relationship that followed that next year made sure Dawn didn’t write at all on her books. Not until 2001 before she took on writing again in the shape of the children’s book ‘De IJsbloemen Schilders’ (The Frost flower Artists) After this she continued writing on the book ‘De Ronde Kamer’ (The Round Chamber) but then lay that book away again. 22 december 2001 her first love, Seléna named after the Goddess of the Moon  (Selene) was born.

26 March 2003 her second love, Salomé, named after the young woman who called herself Jesus His scholar, saw the light. That same year Dawn broke off her relationship. At the end of 2006 she took on De Ronde Kamer and sent it to a couple of publishing-houses, who most parts sent the manuscript back, unread. One employee of a publishing-house with whom Dawn shortly had contact with, gave the advise to try out LuLu Enterprises.
Shortly after that ‘Dreumes’ (Toddlar) and ‘Een Vochtig Draakje.’ (A wet Dragon) followed.
However in the summer of 2007 the author had, among other things, to struggle with an extreme sense of fatigue. At the end of that year a five centimeter big cyst appeared at the right side of her throat. After a short scan it was concluded that the cyst had a leak and that it would go away again by itself. No longer able to do any kind of physical activity, Dawn stayed at home the first half of 2008. After a couple of weeks of isolation she decided to keep her mind active and to continue writing on her book ‘Een Vergeten Verleden’ (A Forgoten Past). In September of 2008 this book was published for the first time on LuLu. This time she did not approach a Publishing House.

Still in the spring of 2007 Dawn had already actively started the search for the third love of her life. Whom she however did not find in the Netherlands, but in Germany. On 18-11-2007 Léana, which means serves John, was born. Too sick to travel herself Dawn’s parents picked up this bundle of love.

As told Dawn stayed at home the first half of 2008. But since her being sick was seen as a mental reaction and not a physical one, steps were taken to get the author on her feet and at work again.

Due to the continuing battle Dawn had to fight against the constant physical exhaustion in an attempt to function normally, she slowly lost herself. At that moment the author was given the Inspiration to start writing the book ‘Ik ben wie Ik ben’ (I am who I am). In the months she let this book rest, she started writing the adventure book ‘De Sleutel van Poseidon’ (Poseidon’s Key)
However at the end of 2009 the house of cards began to sway, until February 2010 the cyst reappeared. A new set of examination followed which in May of 2010 resulted in a Emergency Admission in the UMCG (Hospital) due to an inflamation inside of the cyst, as the marrow no longer was able to produce red blood-cells next to fighting against the inflamation. But after this her complaints still didn’t went away...
In November of 2010 they finally discovered that she had Thyroid-cancer.
At the end of January of 2011 the author was operated.
